There is a desire in most people to see the beauty of their own culture, and this is especially true when it comes to movies. If you are someone who prefers something a little different from what Hollywood has been providing lately, then you may want to take a look at shuddh desi romance. This particular film takes place in northern India and tells the story of two lovers from different social backgrounds who have been separated by an arbitrary family rule. Despite this separation, the two continue their relationship by phone until one day they find out that they are going to be married off to other people. This is when they reunite for a passionate kiss and meet up in secret behind their parents' backs. The movie is about an English literature teacher named Aditi Agnihotri, who is played by Parineeti Chopra. She has lived in the same town all her life with four married sisters and her father, who is retired military. Her mother died suddenly when she was younger. Aditi has just one more year left before she begins to teach at the university where she also is doing her postgraduate work. She lives in a town that has become modernized over the years that has become unrecognizable compared to what it used to be. The elderly residents have been forced out by the new wave of buildings and growth that has taken place. Aditi's father has found a place for them to live that is a piece of a house that has two other families living there. Aditi continues going to the same college where she teaches and one day notices how handsome one of her students is. His name is Madhav Jha, who will later be played by Sushant Singh Rajput. He is from a different town but comes to this town to go to school because there are no schools in his hometown. Their first encounter takes place when he accidentally falls asleep in class and Aditi wakes him up. Madhav is embarrassed by this and gets quickly up and leaves the classroom. Madhav then goes to Aditi's home where he meets her father and introduces himself as someone who wants to be a writer, but his father is very strict and does not like him spending time doing things like that. The two of them see each other around town and begin to develop feelings for each other. They spend their time seeing movies together, eating ice cream at the same place, and eventually fall in love. The thing that really draws Madhav towards Aditi is how much she cares about her family despite them all being so overprotective about her future. Madhav is not from a wealthy family and doesn't have a lot of education. But he has a heart of gold and stays true to Aditi through all of their troubles. Aditi's sister finds out that Madhav is spending time with her, and she immediately goes to Madhav's father and tells him about what is going on. Madhav's father gives him an ultimatum, which is that he must end his relationship with Aditi or move out of the house. He chooses Aditi, which results in a fight between him and his parents.
