"How to Make a Game: Nintendo 64" is a step by step guide with screenshots and video demonstrations on how to make your own game for the Nintendo 64. This project is open source, so if you have anything unique or you are not happy with the tutorial's results, please feel free to share it back through this page so others can build up an inventory of resources. The author of this project wants to show people that they can learn how to create their own games while also providing instructions on how professionals do it. The book covers the programming and artistic side of game making and also touches on business, copyright, budgeting, team management, testing, publishing, releasing the game on the internet and marketing. It tells you what you need to get started, what computer software to use for each department in your team—sound/music/graphics/level design—and talks about some of the basics of 3D modeling with no experience required. The book is filled with screenshots and illustrations. This is a compilation of articles that were previously published elsewhere. Most important parts will be explained via video tutorials or live action videos that will be included in the DVD provided along with this book. The book contains a chapter about the history of the N64 and also a handy chapter called "The Ten Golden Rules of Game Design" which can help beginners to know how to proceed with their games. It should be noted that this is not a Nintendo endorsed project, but rather a fan-created idea that shows off some common techniques used by professional game developers who worked for major companies such as Rare, Capcom, Midway and Acclaim. There will be nothing included in the tutorial that has not already been done by someone else before. All techniques shared in this project have been approved for use by Nintendo. Please see the original project website for documentation and downloads. The latest video tutorial has been uploaded to YouTube."How to Make a Game: Atari 2600" is an instructional guide with screenshots and videos that teach you how to build your own game for the Atari 2600. The book is written for absolute beginners, but it can also be useful if you are just getting into game development, or if you just want to learn some basic programming techniques that will allow you to create your own games. It will cover all the basics of Atari programming in 8 chapters; learning how to use BASIC/OPEN/REALbasic; graphics; sound; animation; control; dynamics; music and finally publishing your game on cartridge format. Here is a list of topics covered in the book: This project is written as a textbook and as such, it is meant to be used as a supplement to learning the basics of creating games, not as its own course. Students can learn important concepts and language syntax for working with BASIC and C/C++ programming languages with no programming experience required. This book does not teach how to use all the features of Atari development software; this tutorial will only cover basic programs that any Atari game developer should know for building your own game or improving your current projects. 8eeb4e9f32 16
